Wellbeing Words

A few words on wellness

Exercise

It is important to exercise daily so you feel good about yourself and stay positive.  Positive attitude can help you cope with the ups and downs of everyday life.  I always try to cycle most days to help with my weight and my mood.

Financial stability

It is vitally important to keep on top of your finances by keeping records of incomings and outgoings.  Saving money has been linked with happiness, so should be a goal for everyone.

Connect

Chatting to friends and family is a wonderful thing to do.  It makes us feel connected with society and gives us a sense of belonging.  I also connect with co-workers and treat everyone with kindness and respect.

Hobbies

I would be lost without my hobbies.  I always try to play guitar everyday to improve my mood and increase my creativity.  I also watch films, read and oil paint.

Write/Be creative

Science plays a big part in my professional life, along with writing.  Both these areas help with all areas of my life, from keeping mentally agile, to organising my next trip away. I also love teaching and do a fair amount of public speaking, lectures and classes.

Currently, I write about all sorts of things for pleasure and organisation.  I have recently started this blog to provide an outlet because I want to share with others.

Combat Anxiety

We all feel worried about something, whether that's public speaking, being judged or losing out in life.  When these worries stop your progress then anxiety kicks in.  Avoid safety behaviours, take chances, don't seek permission, seek forgiveness.  When you do, you realise nothing bad will happen.  You can do this, believe in yourself, ask yourself better questions and start saying yes.

My steps to a healthier lifestyle:

  • Move
  • Save
  • Connect
  • Be Creative
  • Say yes
